PASO ROBLES
Local Congressman Kevin McCarthy is honored for his work getting military photos back on display in Paso Robles.
Supplies for Soldiers presented him with a plaque today.
After being on display for three years, the Paso Robles Post Office removed the pictures temporarily after a person complained a month ago. Many residents were upset, and with McCarthy's help, the deputy postmaster general ordered them put back up.
"This community is so unique. They're so supportive, and that makes a difference. You hear stories of support, and with the support of the local community, those photos go back up," said McCarthy.
The congressman also introduced a resolution re-affirming a post office's right to show photos honoring servicemen and women one comment
This is absurd, why should I have to see military photos in a Post Office? Why should I have to be reminded of the a US recession from a war that isn’t a war and the US Postal has raising their rates again, again and again because of gas prices relating to the war in Iraq.
I mean if they are going to post photos of soldiers, were are the pictures of the dead? I mean if one picture of a soldier is up serving Iraq and when he is shot dead, take him down and put up the next person serving. How about innocent Iraq’s civilians shot dead from US troops from accidents, people who were shot and killed for no reason? How about those photos too?
I am against these photos pinned up in a US post office and the inflation factor the US postal office is charging customers more because of the US conflict in Iraq. Same on you Respresentative Congressman Kevin McCarthy.
