DENVER (AP) ― Next week Denver police will review a proposed ordinance to ban protesters from carrying some items during the Democratic National Convention.

If passed, protesters would not be allowed to carry pipes, chains and any materials that could be used to make bombs containing human waste.

Denver safety manager Al Lacabe says police don't want to interfere with protestors' rights.

Lacabe also points out that the protests should be in done in a way that does not endanger the public or police.

The ACLU is sueing to stop this and wants documents on plans for Convention

Denver 9 News

DENVER (AP) - Denver and the Secret Service have until Thursday to provide certain documents sought by the American Civil Liberties Union of Colorado and groups planning demonstrations at the Democratic National Convention.

The ACLU and the groups are challenging Denver's planned locations for demonstrations and a parade during the convention August 25th to 28th. They say the demonstration zone and parade route are out of sight and earshot of delegates entering the two venues, the Pepsi Center and Invesco Field at Mile High.

The groups won't get all the documents they were seeking on plans to accommodate protests. In an order filed Tuesday, U.S. Magistrate Judge Kathleen Tafoya said some of their requests were too broad. No comments No trackbacks
